Bamboo Flooring FAQ
Bamboo flooring is not very new in the flooring and covering market, but still there are people with multiple questions on it. I listed frequently asked questions.
- How is bamboo flooring manufactured?
- Farmers harvested mature bamboo trees in the mountain. Fresh & mature bamboo culms are split and flattened lengthwise into strips of equal dimensions. These are processed & kiln dried before being pressed against each other and glued under high pressure to form boards (raw planks).
- Strand woven boards are manufactured to achieve greater strength and stability. The bamboo culms are crushed lengthwise and the strands are pressed & glued at extreme high pressure to produce boards (raw planks).
- The raw planks are then milled to form tongue & groove on all four edges.
- Planks with T+G are then surface sanded and coated.
- Is your bamboo flooring as durable as other hardwood flooring?
- All our bamboo flooring is manufactured using only 6 years old mature bamboo trees from remote mountains in Anhui, Fujian, and Jiangxi of South China. Due to a lengthy annual freeze, this unique growing climate produces the strongest bamboo and most durable floors in the world.
- Horizontal & Vertical bamboo flooring is harder than the most popular hardwood - Oak.
- Strand Woven bamboo flooring is harder than the most expensive hardwood - Brazilian Walnut.
- Bamboo flooring is less expensive than hardwood flooring.
- Is bamboo flooring prefinished and ready to install?
- Yes. Bamboo flooring is prefinished in factory with 7 layers of UV cured German Treffert aluminum oxide finish which is highly anti-scratch and abrasion resistant.
- How do you ensure consistent quality?
- We are known in bamboo flooring market for our stringent quality control measures. All materials in each production process are strictly monitored by dedicated personnel before & after processing. Latest technology and computerized machinery is used for all processes. All floors are carefully visualized on color sort before packing.
- Does it comply with E1 safety & emission standards?
- As we use environmentally friendly Dynea glue imported from Finland, our bamboo flooring easily complies with the stringent E-1 standards.
- All our bamboo flooring is CE certified in Universiteit Gent which is a Beligum lab, proved formaldehyde emission is 0.015 mg/m3.
- How does your bamboo flooring hold up to high humidity?
- As long as you let the flooring acclimate for no less than 72 hours, with boxes opened and laid flat in the room where it is to be installed, high humidity should not affect the floor.
- Do you have a warranty on your bamboo flooring?
- We do offer 25 years structural & finish warranty for solid bamboo flooring and engineered bamboo flooring series.
- We do offer lifetime structural warranty for strand woven bamboo flooring series.
- Is bamboo environmentally & eco-friendly?
- Absolutely, Mao (Moso) bamboo is specially cultivated and harvested, without damaging the ecological system of renewal. Every year farmers in bamboo forest will plant new bamboo stems, so the stems can be harvested after 6 years in a mature plantation without decreasing the size of the forest. China government encourages bamboo farmers to plant more bamboo because this could increase their incoming every year.
