Bamboo Plywood Dimensions: Flexible and Custom Sizes
Bamboo plywood is a versatile and eco-friendly alternative to traditional hardwood plywood. It is made from bamboo grass, which is a rapidly renewable resource, making it an environmentally sustainable choice for various applications. Bamboo plywood comes in a range of dimensions to suit different needs, and understanding these dimensions is essential for choosing the right product for your project.
Bamboo plywood dimensions include a very wide range, the major pros of bamboo plywood is its flexible dimensions because bamboo plywood is laminated layers by layers, strips by strips, so it does have a very flexible dimensions by adjusting its pressing ways. In the market, the standard size is 2440x1220mm or 4’x8’, which is convenient for handling and transportation, making it a popular choice for both professional and DIY projects. The maximum length can be 4000mm, we make three pressings in total, that means we press 2 boards in 2m length first, then make a final press to bring 2 boards together. 3m length is also possible for a production in one pressing. But this length will have a very long time production because the strips are very non-standard, the raw materials factory need prepare them from very beginning. That means a minimum quantity will be required as well. The maximum width is 1220mm because the presser is 1.3m wide, the bamboo board can’t be wider than 1220mm. For length, the major sizes are 2000mm, 2440mm, 3000mm and 4000mm. For width, the major sizes are 1000mm, 1220mm. For example, 2000x1000mm, 2440x1220mm, 3000x1220mm. For 4000mm, the width is always less than 620mm because 1220mm is too wide and too heavy for a movement in the production at your jobsite.
For bamboo plywood thickness, this is the most flexible parts in the dimension. One layer: 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm. Two layers: 10mm, 40mm. Three layers: 6.35mm, 12.7mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm. Five layers: 40mm, 45mm, 50mm. In US market, the standard sizes are 4’x8’x1/4”, 4’x8’x1/2”, 4’x8’x3/4”, 4’x8’x1”. Horizontal grain: In this orientation, the bamboo strips are laid flat, parallel to the length of the sheet. This creates a characteristic "knuckle" pattern and is often used for its distinctive look in furniture making and interior design. Vertical grain: In this orientation, the bamboo strips are stood upright, perpendicular to the length of the sheet. This creates a more uniform appearance with straight, vertical lines and is often preferred for its clean, modern look in contemporary design. A short explain for horizontal grain and vertical grain, actually, they are well-explained in this article: Bamboo Plywood Structure, please have a review.
